Check Out dialog box

Use this dialog box to check out items. On the General tab, you specify where to check out items.

For a single item, see the Attributes tab/page for details on how to edit the item's user-defined attributes.

Field Description Rules and guidelines

Check out to location:

Type, or accept, the name of the file to contain the checked out item.

This appears if you have selected a single item.

Enter a full pathname or a pathname relative to the project root folder, or click the Browse button to find it.

Check out to folder:

Type, or accept, the name of the folder to contain the checked out items.

This appears if you have selected multiple items.

Enter a full pathname or a pathname relative to the project root folder, or click the Browse button to find it.

Check out contents of project folder <name> to:

Type, or accept, the name of the folder to contain the checked out items.

This appears if you have selected a project folder.

Enter a full pathname or a pathname relative to the project root folder, or click the Browse button to find it.

If writable workfile exists

Select Overwrite  or Donoverwrite.

If an existing file is read-only, it is overwritten regardless of how you set this option.

Branch

Accept the named branch for the checked out item, or select a different one.

Single item selected only.

If <none>  is displayed, named branches are not enabled for the project.

Revision

Accept the revision ID, or enter a different one.

Single item selected only.

Revision IDs are allocated according to your process model rules.

Relate to requests

Enter the name of one or more requests, or click the Browse button to find them.

Your process model may require you to specify a request.

The checked out item is related to the request as In Response To, and the existing revision related as Affected.

Include subdirectories of <name>

Select to check out all items in all subdirectories.

This field only appears if you have selected a project folder.

Expand Substitution Variables

Select to expand item header substitution variables.

Note that this occurs only if Enable item header substitution  is set for the item type in the Administration Console.

Write metadata

Select to write metadata to the work area.

  • Default is selected.

  • If this is cleared, Dimensions CM doesn't write the metadata file(s) to the work area.
