Log in to web client

This topic explains how to log in to the Dimensions CM web client or a remote node.

Login credentials

To access the web client, you need the following information:

  • The URL and port number for the Dimensions CM web server.

  • The database name of the Dimensions CM product you are working with.

  • The connection string for the database.

  • If you are accessing files and directories on a remote node, such as a z/OS mainframe, the username and password for an account on the remote node.

Caution: Avoid opening multiple web client sessions in different tabs or windows in the same browser. Actions performed in one tab or window may have unexpected effects in the others.

Log in to web client with user ID and password

Standard access to the web client requires a user ID and password.

To log in to the web client:

  1. Enter the web client URL in your browser:

    http(s)://hostname:port/dimensions/

    where hostname is the web server and port is the server port number.

  2. For User ID, enter a Dimensions CM user ID.

  3. For Password, enter the user's password.

  4. For Connect to, accept the default or select another option. The available options are configured by your administrator.

  5. Click Log in.

Log in to web client using SSO

You can use SSO to access the web client.

To log in to the web client using SSO:

  1. Enter the web client URL in your browser:

    http(s)://hostname:port/dimensions/

    where hostname is the web server and port is the web server port number.

  2. If you are not authenticated for SSO, the Dimensions CM authentication page is displayed.

    If you are logging in using a smart card:

    1. Insert the card and click Smart Card Log In.

    2. Select the certificate you want to use.

    3. On the Choose a Digital Certificate page, click OK.

    4. If you are authenticating for the first time, enter your PIN and click OK.

      If you are not using a smart card, enter your username and password, and click Log in. If your login is successful, or you are already logged in using SSO, you do not need to enter your username and password again.

      • To access only the web client's request management features, select Request Management only.

      • For Connect to, accept the default or select another option. The available options are configured by your administrator.

  3. Click Log in.

Log in to remote node and change password

You can log in to a remote network node from the web client.

Note: When logging in, you can change your password to a remote node only for a UNIX server with enabled LDAP or a Windows server.

To log in or change password to a remote node:

  1. Log in to the web client.

  2. In the right corner of the status area, click Authentication.

  3. In the Passwords dialog box, enter the authentication details:

    Field Description
    Network node Enter the name of the remote node, or select one from the list of available nodes.
    Username

    Enter your remote node username.

    Maximum length is 64 characters.

    Password Enter the password for the remote node.
  4. UNIX (with enabled LDAP) or Windows: To change your password for the remote node, select Change password, then enter a new password and confirm it.

  5. Click OK.
