Integration with New Relic

This topic describes how to integrate the New Relic monitoring tool with Controller.

Note: The New Relic integration is available from version 25.3.

Push data to New Relic

You can configure Controller to push real-time metrics and data from scenario runs to the New Relic monitoring tool.

The integration with New Relic is bi-directional. This means that in addition to configuring Controller to push data to New Relic, you can also configure Controller to receive metrics collected by New Relic, and display them in Controller and Analysis graphs.

To configure Controller to push data to New Relic:

  1. Prerequisite: You must generate and enable an API key in New Relic. For details, see the New Relic documentation.

  2. In the Controller toolbar, select Tools > External metrics > New Relic configuration.
  3. In the New Relic Configuration dialog box, enter the following information.

    Field Details
Server The New Relic server address.
API key The API key you generated in New Relic.
  4. Indicate what to send to New Relic: Send scenario information and/or Send run metrics.
  5. Click Test Connection.
  6. When the connection is successful, click OK.

  7. Add the New Relic monitor to the scenario. For details, see New Relic monitor.

Once Controller has been configured to push data to New Relic, the data is pushed each time you run a scenario in Controller. To stop Controller from pushing data to New Relic, select Tools > External metrics > New Relic configuration and click Clear to clear the fields in the dialog box.

Tip: For details on how to set up metrics and tags to filter the data, see Metrics and tags.
