You can select which fields are shown or hidden in forms. You can also fill in forms automatically with autofill templates.
Customize a form
You can show or hide fields in a form.
To add or remove fields:
-
Create or open an item, such as a defect, user story, or test.
-
In the Details tab, click the Customize fields button in the toolbar.
-
Use the checkboxes to show or hide fields in the form. The Customize fields button displays a shaded gear , indicating that changes have been made to the default display.
Any fields you select that are not among the default fields, are displayed in the More section.
Tip: The admin can customize the default forms for different entities, and add custom fields. For details, see Custom forms and Custom fields.
Fill in fields automatically
You can create autofill templates that help you fill in new items with predefined field values.
Example: In a data set for a user story, you can include a list of tasks in the Tasks to generate field. Those tasks will be automatically created in every story that you create using this data set.
To save an autofill template:
- Fill in an Add <item> form with the field values that you want to repeat, such as the Application module, Team, and Environment tags.
- At the top of the form, click the Save as template button .
-
Specify a name for the template.
-
Select whether you want to share the template. Choose one of the following options:
-
Share with all: The template is available to all users in your workspace.
-
Share with teams: The template is available to all members of the selected teams.
-
-
Select Set as default to indicate that the template should be used as the default for all new items of that type. The next time you create a new item, the template is automatically applied.
To use a template:
-
Open an item for which a template was created.
-
If you previously defined a default template for that item type, it loads automatically.
-
If you do not have a default template, click Choose Template and select an available template. The fields are automatically populated with the template values.
