Run Setup area

This area enables you to open tests and select which tests to include in your run. You can define test details and view previous test results. You can also configure Power Mode.

Important information for OpenText Application Quality Management users
  • The My Runs List pane contains the list of all the tests you can include in your next run. Any changes you make to the My Runs List pane do not affect OpenText Application Quality Management or the OpenText Application Quality Management Test Lab module.

  • Tests in the My Runs List pane correspond to instances of a configuration in OpenText Application Quality Management. These instances are referred to as tests throughout the product and this guide.

Description

Run

  • Runs all the tests in the My Runs List pane.

  • You can indicate whether to run your tests on the desktop, or on a mobile device.
Run with Power mode activated.

Run in Power Mode to enable data injection, scanners, and macros.

The drop-down options are Run (all) or Run Selected Tests.

Open

Allows you to choose a test to add to the My Runs List pane. If you have tests in the My Runs List pane, this option appends the selected tests to the tests in the list.

For an OpenText Application Quality Management connection, the Open dialog box opens with the ability to filter and hide tests.

Save

Saves the selected tests in the My Runs List pane.

Shortcut key:Ctrl+S

Drop-down options:

  • Save. Saves the run definitions for the selected tests.

  • Save All. Saves the run definitions for all the tests in the My Runs List pane.

Note: 

  • For users not on OpenText Application Quality Management, when you save a test, Sprinter creates a folder in the same folder as your test, which contains all your test's run information. The folder name is in the format <test_name_Runs>.

For OpenText Application Quality Management users, tests are automatically saved to OpenText Application Quality Management throughout the test run. If you lose your connection during a run, your test displays an asterisk next to its name indicating that the test has changes that have not been saved. You must first reconnect to OpenText Application Quality Management in the OpenText Application Quality Management Connection dialog box and then click the Save button to manually save the run results to OpenText Application Quality Management.

Favorites

(OpenText Application Quality Management, OpenText Functional Testing) Enables you to save the current list of tests as a favorite and load a saved list of tests into the My Runs List pane.

Drop-down options:

  • Add to Favorites. Saves the current My Runs List pane as a favorite in the Favorites list.

  • Manage Favorites. Allows you to change the order of your Favorites list and remove favorites from the list. For details, see the Manage Favorites dialog box.
  • Last Session. The list of test runs in the session that ran before Sprinter was closed.
Name

The list of tests available to be included in the next run.

For OpenText Application Quality Management users, tests in the My Runs List pane correspond to instances of a configuration in OpenText Application Quality Management. These instances are referred to as tests throughout the product and this guide.

  • When you click the Run button, only active tests in the My Runs List pane are run. A test is no longer active it is already run. You can overwrite the current run using the right-click context menu, described below.

  • Right-click a test in the My Runs List pane to view the context menu (right-click) options described below.

  • For each test in the list you can set the status of the test by expanding the Status icon and selecting a value from the drop-down list.

  • An asterisk next to a test name indicates the test has changes that have not been saved.

  • For OpenText Application Quality Management users, a warning symbol next to a test indicates a problem with the definitions for that test. When you select the test, the warning symbol is also displayed next to the node that is causing the warning. Select the node and review the displayed definitions for any warning messages. For details, see the Run Area.

  • For OpenText Application Quality Management users, a lock symbol next to a test indicates that the test is currently locked. This occurs when you load a previous run of a test, and that run is also currently being edited in OpenText Application Quality Management.

<Context menu (right-click) options>
  • Move Up. Moves the selected test up the My Runs List pane.

  • Move Down. Moves the selected test down the My Runs List pane.

  • Remove. Removes the selected tests from the My Runs List pane.

  • Run Selected Tests. Starts a run with the selected tests only.

  • Replace with New Run. (OpenText Application Quality Management connection only) Removes the selected test from the My Runs List pane, replaces it with a new copy and saves any run results. This can be useful if a test in the My Runs List pane failed and you want to re-run the test.

  • Add New Run. (OpenText Application Quality Management connection only) Adds a new run of the selected tests to the My Runs List pane.

  • Show All Runs. (OpenText Application Quality Management connection only) Opens the All Runs dialog box.

Status

The status values include the following default system values as well as any user-defined status values:

  • Passed. The test passed.

  • Failed. The test failed.

  • Blocked. The test is blocked.

  • Not Completed. The test was paused in the middle of the run.

  • No Run. (Default selection) The test has not yet been run.

  • N/A. Current status is not applicable.

The Name and Status columns are displayed by default. You can right-click on the column headers of the My Runs List pane to add and select the displayed columns, and drag column dividers to adjust column width. You can also drag columns to change the order in which they are displayed.
