Service Virtualization Setup Dialog Box
Relevant for: GUI tests and API tests only
What is the Service Virtualization Setup dialog box?
The Service Virtualization Setup dialog box lists all the virtualized services (and attached virtualization projects, if necessary) associated with your test. It also lists configuration details for services or server, and the associated performance and data models for these virtualized services.
When you should use the Service Virtualization Setup dialog box
You use the Service Virtualization Setup dialog box each time you need to add a virtualized service to your test, configure the service's details, or set the runtime configuration for each virtualized service.
What do you want to know?
How do I access this dialog box?
Click the ALM Connection down arrow in the UFT One toolbar and select Virtualized Services Settings. The dialog box opens by default.
The different elements of the dialog box are described below:
UI Element | Description |
---|---|
Service Name |
The name of the virtualized service. Note: This name can be different from the name of the virtualization project, as you can have multiple virtual services in the same virtualization project. For details, see the Service Virtualization User Guide. |
Mode |
Indicates whether the virtualized service is running or not currently. The service can be either Simulating (marked by a icon) or Stand-By (marked with a icon). |
Data Model | The data model to use for the current test run. The data models and their properties are defined when designing the virtualization project. |
Performance Model | The performance model to use for the current test run. You can choose from a performance model you define in the virtualization project, Offline, or None. |
Show Runtime | Opens the Runtime Setup dialog box, which enables you to set the service's properties for a test run. |
Add Services | Enables you to add and define configuration details for a virtualized service. |
From the main Service Virtualization Setup dialog box, you can add services to the test, both from a remote Service Virtualization server or a virtualization project.
To add these services, in the main Service Virtualization Setup dialog box, click the Add Services button. The Add New Services dialog box opens:
You then follow the wizard steps to add the services. For details, see Add virtualized services from a server or Add services from a virtualization project.
After you add the services to your test, you can update the service's details in subsequent UFT One sessions.
To update these services, in the main Service Virtualization Setup dialog box, click the service's parent node. The Service Settings dialog box opens:
You then update the service's details in the appropriate tab, depending on if you added the service from a Service Virtualization server or a virtualization project. For details, see Update service details (optional).
For each test run, you can modify the service run-time settings. In the main Service Virtualization Setup dialog box, click the Show Runtime button.
The Service Virtualization Runtime dialog box opens:
You then adjust the properties accordingly. For details, see Use a virtualized service for a UFT One test.
