Memo fields

Memo fields provide you with a full set of editing tools.

Overview

Each item has at least one memo field, typically called Description. Administrators can add other custom memo fields to items.

You can format text in memo fields and in comments using a rich set of editing tools. You can also insert links and mention other users.

Link to other items

You can insert links in memo fields to other items.

To link to another item:

  1. In a memo field, type or click #, followed by one of the following prefixes:

    w for work item

    s for user story

    q for quality story

    e for epic

    f for feature

    d for defect

    k for task

    t for test

    r for requirement

    b for BDD

  2. After the prefix, start typing a string that appears in the item to which you want to link.

    Example: #dtest searches for defects that include the string "test".

  3. Matching items are suggested. Click an item to link to it.

Mention users

You can mention users in memo fields. Depending on the business rules, the mentioned user is notified by email or in the My Work module.

To mention a user:

  • Type @ followed by the user's name. As you type, the suggested users are filtered. The item's stakeholders and recently-mentioned people are listed highest.
