Set firewall monitoring preferences

After you have installed and configured the LoadRunner Agent, the Monitors Over Firewall (MOFW) component, the MI Listener, and Controller machine, you need to select the server measurements that the MOFW machine will monitor.

You configure the server monitor properties from the MOFW machine, using the Monitor Configuration dialog box. You can select the type of monitors to run and the server whose resources you want to monitor, add the measurements to monitor for each server, and specify the frequency with which you want the monitored measurements to be reported.

Configure monitors over a firewall

Use the Monitor Configuration dialog box to configure monitors over a firewall.

To configure monitors over a firewall:

1. Open the Monitor Configuration dialog box.

   On the MOFW machine, select Windows Start menu > Micro Focus > Monitor Configuration.

   For machines without the complete LoadRunner Professional installation, select Windows Start menu > Server Monitor > Monitor Configuration.

2. Add monitored servers.

   Note: When adding a Dynatrace or Prometheus monitor, skip to step 4. Monitoring Dynatrace servers over a firewall is supported from LoadRunner Professional 2022 R2.

   To add a server, click the Add button . Type the name or IP address of the server whose resources you want to monitor in the Monitored Server field. To add several servers simultaneously, separate the server names or IP ranges with commas. For example: 255.255.255.0-255.255.255.5, server1, server2.

3. From the Available Monitors list, select the monitors appropriate for the server being monitored.

   For certain monitors, LoadRunner displays default measurements in the Measurements to be Monitored section. You can specify the frequency by which LoadRunner reports the measurement in the Measurement Properties section. For details on selecting measurements, see Set up a monitoring environment.

4. (For Dynatrace and Prometheus monitors only) Add monitored servers and measurements.

   1. Click the Add button in the left monitor list pane. In the Monitored Server field, you do not need to enter the server details, because these details are entered later. However, the Monitored Server field cannot remain empty, so you must enter some text into the field.
   2. Click the Add button in the right measurements pane to open the monitor login dialog box. Follow the relevant steps to set up the monitor.
      • For details on setting up a Dynatrace monitor, see step 4 and onward of Monitor Dynatrace metrics.
      • For details on setting up a Prometheus monitor, see step 4 and onward of Set up the Prometheus monitor.

5. (Optional) Clone a monitored server's properties.

   If you want to monitor the same properties on different server machines, right-click the server you want to clone, and select Clone. In the Monitored Server box, type the name or IP address of the clone server you want to create.
