Install server

This section explains how to install the Deployment Automation server.

Installation prerequisites

Before installing the server, make sure that you system meets the requirements. For details about supported platforms, see the Support Matrix.

If you are installing the server in a production environment, set up the database before installing the server. For details, see Prepare your database. For evaluation purposes, you can use the built-in Derby database.

Installation methods

The Deployment Automation server provides services such as the user interface where you can configure application deployments, the workflow engine, the security service, and the artifact repository, among others.

To upgrade the server, use the server installer. For details on how to upgrade from earlier versions, see Upgrade servers.

Use one of the following methods to install the server:

Interactive installation See Run the interactive server installer.
Silent-mode installation

Windows: See Install server in silent mode on Windows.

UNIX/Linux: See Install server in silent mode on UNIX/Linux.

Manual installation The interactive or silent installers are available for Linux and AIX systems. For UNIX systems other than Linux and AIX, install the server manually. For details, see Install server manually on UNIX.

After installing the server, add a license and configure the server according to your implementation needs.

Note: By default, Deployment Automation allows the use of TLSv1.2, TLSv1.1, and TLSv1 protocols. To improve security, change the configuration to TLSv1.3 and TLSv1.2. Edit the installed.properties files for your server (DA profile), agents, agent relays, and component integrators, and replace the default protocol list with the following line: TLSv1.3, TLSv1.2. All your system components must use the same protocols.
