Create deployment package tasks

You can create deployment package tasks that interrupt deployment package processes until manual intervention is performed.

For details on how to add a manual task step to a deployment package process, see Deployment package process utility steps.

About deployment package tasks

Deployment package tasks pause deployment package processes until a specific action from the assigned user resumes the process.

Deployment Automation suspends task-interrupted processes until the assigned user responds.

Typically, deployment package manual tasks are removed after the process has been tested or automated.

Like approvals, triggered deployment package tasks notify assigned users. Unlike approvals, deployment package tasks can be incorporated into a deployment package process.

The assigned person can indicate that the task is complete by approving the step from the request's log in Approval Requests. For details, see Approve requests.

Create deployment package tasks

You create deployment package tasks on the deployment package's page.

To create a deployment package task:

  1. Navigate to Management > Deployment Packages > [select deployment package] > Tasks.

  2. Click Create. The Create Task Definition dialog box opens.
  3. In the Name field, enter the name of the task.
  4. (Optional) Enter additional information to describe the task.
  5. From the Template Name list, select a template.

This option maps individual tasks to the notification scheme used by the deployment package. For details, see Create notification templates.

The default task notification template is TaskCreated.

  6. Click Save.
