Manage agent pools

Agent pools are groups of agents. They help you organize and manage agents installed in different environments.

This topic describes how to work with agent pools through the Deployment Automation user interface.

Agent pools page overview

To access agent pools, navigate to Management > Resources and select the Pools tab.

The following table describes some of the tasks you can do on the Pools page:

Task Description
View agent pool details

View the following information about an agent pool:

  • Name and description
  • Status, such as Offline or Online 
Edit To change the agent pool's name or description, click the Edit icon next to the agent pool.
Copy To copy and create a new agent pool with the same agents as the selected agent pool, click the Copy icon next to the agent pool.
Inactivate To deactivate the pool, click the Inactivate icon next to the agent pool. Agents in a deactivated pool cannot perform deployments.

To re-activate the pool, click the Show Inactive button, and then click the Activate icon next to the agent pool.
Remove To remove the agent pool, click the Remove icon.

Clicking the name of an agent pool opens the selected pool's page where you can:

Create an agent pool

Grouping agents into a set creates an agent pool.

To create an agent pool:

  1. Navigate to Management > Resources.

  2. Select the Pools tab.

  3. Click Create. The Create New Pool dialog box opens.

  4. In the Name field, enter the name for the pool.

  5. (Optional) In the Description field, enter additional information about the pool.

  6. Click Save.

Add agents to an agent pool

You can add one or more agents to existing agent pools.

To add agents to an agent pool:

  1. Navigate to Management > Resources.

  2. Select the Pool tab.

  3. In the agent pools list, select the pool to which you want to add agents.

  4. Click the Add Agents button.

  5. In the Adding Agents dialog box, select one or more agents you want to add to the pool.

    You can use Search to filter the agents by name.

  6. Click Add.
