Audit a project or stream

In the web client and desktop client, you can produce an audit report for the build areas associated with a Dimensions CM project/stream. The report compares the files in the Dimensions CM repository with files in the selected build areas.

You can also repair the build area to contain all the project/stream's item revisions that are at the selected stage.

Web client: Audit a project/stream

To create a build audit report for a project/stream in the web client, you need the Audit a Project/Stream privilege.

To audit a build project/stream:

  1. In the web client, open the Projects or Streams view.

  2. On the toolbar, click Build , and select Audit. The Audit dialog box opens.

  3. Specify the details of the project/stream you are auditing:

    Field Description
    Project/Stream Select the project/stream to audit. By default, your current project/stream is selected.
    Stage Select a stage to audit.
    Area Select a build area to audit. To audit all the build areas associated with the stage, select <All areas>.
    Filter

    Select a filter to determine which items to include in the audit. Or use the default filter for the area.

    Caution: Make sure not to confuse audit filters with area filters. For details on how to use these filters correctly, see Set up the process model.

    Report

    Enter the path to the file to contain the report, or click the browse button and select the file.

    If you do not select a file, the report is displayed in the Details window and is not saved.

    Fix any inconsistencies found in the area Select this option to repair the build area so that it contains all the project/stream's item revisions that are at the specified stage.
  4. To run the audit, click OK.

Desktop client: Audit a project/stream

To create a build audit report for a project/stream in the desktop client, you need the Audit a Project/Stream privilege.

To audit a build project/stream:

  1. In the desktop client, open the project/stream to audit.

  2. From the Project/Stream menu, select Audit. The Audit dialog box opens.

  3. Specify the details of the project/stream you are auditing:

    Field Description
    Stage Select a stage to audit.
    Area Select a build area to audit. To audit all the build areas associated with the stage, select <All areas>.
    Filter

    Select a filter to determine which items to include in the audit. Or use the default filter for the area.

    Report file

    Enter the path to the file to contain the report, or click the browse button and select the file.

    If you do not select a file, the report is displayed in a new window and is not saved.

  4. To run the audit, click OK.
