Create relationship names

In the Administration Console, you can create and modify item-item and request-request relationship names.

Note: This functionality is available for items and Dimensions CM requests only.

Relationship name guidelines

In the Object Types section of the Administration Console, you can add, change, and remove relationship names for a selected request or item type.

Relationship names are used when assigning actual relationships between items and other items, or Dimensions CM requests and other Dimensions CM requests.

For an overview of object relationships, see Relationships between objects.

Guidelines:

  • To create and manage relationship names, you need the Manage Item Relationship Names privilege.

  • Names for request-to-item relationships are system-defined only.

  • Item relationship names apply to all products in the base database, while request relationship names apply to your current product.

For details about the Relationship Names tab for request and item types, see Object Types content area.
