Edit CM Rules dialog box
In the Edit CM Rules dialog box, specify the rules that define the behavior of related items and requests when performing certain actions. You can enable or disable the complete set of CM rules.
Edit CM rules for items
In the Edit CM Rules dialog box for items, define the following Change Management rules:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Enable CM Rules | Choose whether to activate the CM rules for this item type. |
Require request for new item | Select Yes to allow new items of this type to be created only in response to a valid request. |
Require request when check out at or beyond this state | Select the first lifecycle state at which a request is required for checking out a new item revision. |
Require request when action at or beyond this state | Select the first lifecycle state at which a request is required for actioning the item. |
Require that item must be at or beyond this state before permit closing of associated request | Select the minimum state an item must reach before requests related to it as in response to can close. |
Edit CM rules for requests
For requests, you can map lifecycle states to phases. In the Edit CM Rules dialog box for requests, define the following Change Management rules:

Lifecycle phase rules | |
Analysis phase starts with State | Select the first lifecycle state in the Analysis phase. |
Work phase starts with State | Select the first lifecycle state in the Work phase. |
Frozen phase starts with State | Select the first lifecycle state in the Frozen phase. |
Dependent request rule | |
Minimum state of child before permit parent to close | Select the minimum state at which this request must be before any parent request may be closed. |
Allow request to be closed with affected item revisions | Select this option to allow requests to be closed or actioned to a Frozen phase without having an in response to item relationship. |
