Users and Groups window

This topic describes the areas and options of the Users and Groups window in the Administration Console.

To open Users and Groups, go to Administration Console > Users, Groups, Roles and Privileges > User & Group registration.

Users and Groups toolbar

The Users and Groups toolbar includes the following options, depending on your selection in the navigation pane:

Button Description
  Create a user or group.
  Create a user or group by copying the details of the selected user or group.
  Delete one or more selected users or groups.
Promote a proxy (auto registered) user to a normal user.
Add, edit, or delete custom attributes for a selected user.

Users and Groups navigation area

The Users and Groups navigation pane lists the users in the base database.

In the navigation pane, you can:

  • Filter users by type. From the list, select All Groups, All Active Users, Auto Registered, or Dormant Users.

  • Select a user or group to display its details in the content pane.

  • To view a summary of all users or all groups in the content pane, select the top-level icon.

  • If there are many users or groups, and they are separated into sections, select a user/group section to view the users/groups included in the section.

Users and Groups content area

The information displayed in the Users and Groups content pane depends on what you select in the navigation pane.

When you select a user in the navigation pane, the content pane displays the following sections:

Section Description
General

Displays details about the user and any user-defined attributes.

You can edit the user and change its details and attributes.

Groups

Displays details about the groups to which the user belongs, and any user-defined attributes.

You can edit the user and change its details and attributes.

When you select a user group in the navigation pane, the content pane displays the following sections:

Section Description
General

Displays details about the user group.

You can change the group's description and assigned users.

Users

Displays details about the users that belong to the group, and their details.

You can change the group's description and assigned users.

When you select the top-level user or group icon, the content pane displays a detailed summary of all users or groups in the base database. You can perform the following operations:

  • Modify details and attributes for the selected user or group.
  • Filter the list of users or groups.

  • Display a summary of users or groups to print or save.

  • Display the list of users or groups as comma-separated values to save as a text file.

  • Sort the list of users or groups by clicking the column headings.
