Action a baseline

Action a baseline to move the baseline from one lifecycle state to the next lifecycle state.

Dimensions CM Deployment only: If you are actioning a baseline to a lifecycle state associated with a stage in the Global Stage Lifecycle, the baseline is also promoted to that stage. If there are any default areas associated with the project/stream, the item files are automatically deployed to those areas.

PRIVILEGES: Action Baseline to Next State to action a baseline to a valid next state. Action Baseline to Any State to action a baseline to a lifecycle state without a valid transition.

To action baselines to the next state in a lifecycle:

  1. In the web client, select one or more baselines.

  2. On the toolbar, click the Action button.

  3. For New State, select a lifecycle state:

    Single baseline

    Select To next state and then select a valid next state from the corresponding list.

    Or select To specific state and select a lifecycle state from that list. You need the necessary privilege to action to a state other than a valid next state.
    Multiple baselines Select either Next normal state or Named state, and enter a lifecycle state. You must enter a common lifecycle state for all baselines.

  4. To initiate a build for the baseline items, select the Start build after action option, and click Next.

    Note: Only the items that are associated with a target definition file have this build option. For details on building items, see Running Builds.

  5. To set attributes, enter or select the values, and click Next. Required attributes are marked with a red exclamation point.

    This page is not displayed for multiple baselines.

  6. (Optional) In the Comment field, enter a comment, and click Next.

  7. On the Results page, check the results of the action, and click Close.
