Attach files to requests

Attach files to include documents with information on the Dimensions CM request. You can save request attachments to your local work area.

Attach files to a request

You can attach one or more files to a Dimensions CM request.

PRIVILEGES: Update Request Attachments.

To attach one or more files to a request:

  1. In the web client, open the Requests view.

  2. Display a list of requests by expanding the appropriate node in the navigation pane, for example, Catalog or Inbox.

  3. Select a request in the content pane, and click Open on the toolbar. Or click the request's name. The Open Request dialog box opens.

  4. In File Attachments, in the Filename field, enter the file path. Or browse to select a file.

  5. (Optional) For Description, enter a description for the attachment. By default, Dimensions CM adds the following description:

    Attachment created <date> by <user ID>

  6. To add another attachment, click Insert Row and repeat earlier steps.

  7. To save the changes, click Save.

    To save the changes and action the request to its next normal state, click Save & Action.

View and save request attachments

You can view the contents of request attachments and save copies to your local work area.

PRIVILEGES: Browse Request.

To view and save request attachments:

  1. In the web client, open the Requests view.

  2. Display a list of requests by expanding the appropriate node in the navigation pane, for example, Catalog or Inbox.

  3. Select a request in the content pane, and click Open on the toolbar. Or click the request's name. The Open Request dialog box opens.

  4. In File Attachments, in the Filename field, click an attachment.

    The file opens in the default product for the file type.

  5. To save the file, use the product's commands.
