View the dashboard

Vusers generate data as they perform transactions during test runs. The dashboard enables you to analyze the transaction performance and status of a selected run for a load test.

Dashboard overview

The dashboard provides a variety of customizable widgets to analyze performance of your load test run.

To access the dashboard:

In the Runs page, select a run to analyze from the Runs List. The Dashboard page of the run opens.

Dashboard areas

The dashboard contains the following.

Area Description
<summary bar>

The summary bar includes the following information:

  • <Test name>. The test name ID as displayed in the load testing tool.

  • <Test run ID>. The test run ID as displayed in the load testing tool.

  • Start time. The start time of the selected run configuration.

  • Duration. The total time used by the selected run.

  • Hits per sec. The average and total number of hits (HTTP requests to a web server) per second, over the selected test run.

  • Throughput. The average and total throughput over the selected test run. Throughput is the amount of data received from the servers, measured in megabytes. The average throughput is the total amount of data received from the servers in megabytes divided by the duration of the run in seconds.

  • Total Vusers. The maximum number of Vusers that ran concurrently in the selected test run. This metric indicates the capacity of the test.

  • Errors. The total number of errors in the selected run. A large number of errors during a specific time period can indicate a performance problem with the application. Click the Details link to view the Errors page for more information. For details, see Investigate errors.

Dashboard tabs

These tabs consist of customizable widgets that display performance data for the run. For details, see Widgets.

Metrics pane

The metrics tree pane shows which metrics are displayed in the active widget and provides configuration options. For details, see Metrics pane.

Dashboard tabs

The first time you open the dashboard for a run, a tab Dashboard 1 with four widgets is displayed. Each widget contains a single metric:

  • Running Vusers

  • Throughput

  • Total Errors

  • Hits per second

You can customize the metrics displayed in the widgets in the tab, add up to 10 widgets, and change the layout. You can also create multiple dashboard tabs, with each tab showing different content.

Tabs are not persistent between test runs. This means that after you create a dashboard for a load test run, any tabs you create, the initial tab and any additional ones, will not be available for other runs of the same load test.

The following table describes how to manage the dashboard tabs.

Action Task
Create a tab
  1. In the Tabs toolbar, click the Add dashboard button to add a new dashboard tab.

  2. Select either a Single widget dashboard or a 4-widget dashboard. You can add more widgets (up to 10) to the tab at a later stage.

A new tab opens with the selected number of widgets.

When the limit of 10 tabs has been reached, the Add dashboard button + becomes inactive.

Rename a tab

Click the Edit button on the tab.

Close a tab

Click the Close button on the tab.

Note:

  • There must be at least one open tab.

  • A closed tab cannot be re-opened.

Add metrics

For details on adding metrics to widgets, see Metrics pane.

Add a widget

Click the Add widget button +. An empty widget is added to the dashboard.

You can add up to 10 widgets per dashboard tab. When the limit has been reached, the Add widget button becomes inactive.

For details, see Widgets.

Tip: You can also use Smart Assistant, an AI-powered tool, to generate dashboard widgets. For details, see Aviator for Analysis.

Copy or duplicate a widget

You can copy a widget to another dashboard tab, or duplicate it within the same tab.

For details, see Duplicate a widget and copy to another tab.

Change time range

Set the time range by dragging the start and end indicators of the time picker slider. The time picker configuration impacts all the widgets in the selected tab.

Configure graph time options

Use the Absolute time switch to control how elapsed time is displayed on the x-axis in the graphs within this tab:

  • Switch on to display the actual time based on the local browser’s system clock.

  • Switch off to display time relative to the start of the test run.

The selected time mode applies to each graph when opened in expanded mode. If you change the time display setting for a graph in expanded mode (see Change the graph display), the change affects only that session. It does not apply to other graphs, and the next time you open the same graph, it reverts to the tab’s setting.

Metrics pane

The metrics pane includes the metrics available for the test run. Only standard metrics, such as Errors per second and Throughput, or metrics that have data for the run are listed.

Use the following actions to configure the metrics you want to include in the active dashboard tab.

Action Task
Hide or show the metrics pane

Click the Collapse metrics pane button collapse button to hide the pane , or the Expand metrics pane button to display the pane.

Select or deselect a metric for viewing

Manage the metrics that are displayed in the widgets in the active tab.

  • To select a metric for display, select the metric name checkbox. The metric is added to the currently active widget.

  • To remove a metric from a widget, clear the metric name checkbox.

Merge multiple metrics into one display

Merging allows you to compare several different measurements at once. For example, you can make a merged graph to display throughput and number of hits per second, as a function of the elapsed time.

  • Select the metrics you want to merge. The metrics are added to the currently active widget.

  • You can merge up to five metrics in one widget.

Note: Some metrics have a special representation and cannot be merged with other metrics.

Search for a metric

Click the Search button to open the search box and enter a string to launch the search. The names of the metrics containing the string are displayed in the tree, and the search string is highlighted.

Widgets

Click a widget to make it active. The active widget is indicated by a colored border. Only one widget can be active at a time. When you select or clear metrics, they are automatically added to or removed from the currently active widget.

By default, a widget’s title is generated from the names of the selected metrics. Tab titles are limited to up to 200 characters. To change the title of the widget, see Edit widget title.

To view a widget in more detail, click the widget's Expand View button . A window opens displaying the selected widget and it's metrics.

Note: If you change a widget’s title and then add more metrics, the title reverts to the names of the selected metrics.

Duplicate a widget and copy to another tab

You can reorganize widgets across dashboard tabs to streamline analysis and reporting. This enables you to work across multiple tabs while including only selected widgets in exported reports.

You can either:

  • Copy a widget, including its metrics and filters, to another dashboard tab.

  • Duplicate a widget within the same tab.

What’s preserved when copying or duplicating

  • Assigned metrics

  • Applied filters

  • Table configuration

  • Measurement selections

  • Visual properties (titles, colors, chart settings)

Note: The copied widget is independent and not linked to the original. You can edit it freely.

Limitations

  • Cross-run copying is not supported.

  2. Hover over Copy to tab.

  3. Select a destination tab from the list of available tabs in the current test run.

    Note:

    • Tabs that already contain 10 widgets are unavailable.

    • The current tab is not available in the list. To copy within the same tab, use the Duplicate option.

    • When a widget is copied to another tab, the focus does not automatically redirected to the new widget.

To duplicate a widget within the same tab:

  1. Click the widget’s Options menu . This option is available for both graphical and column chart widgets.
