Set up notifications for Resource Management
Resource pool managers, staffing profile managers, and resources can receive email notifications for events like resource requests being sent, forwarded, rejected, withdrawn, or when resources are allocated. Administrators configure default notifications for new staffing profiles and resource pools. Managers can configure notifications for their specific staffing profiles or resource pools.
This topic describes the tasks that administrators need to perform to set up default notifications.
Set notification parameters
You must set the following parameters in the server.conf file in order to send notifications.
- EMAIL_NOTIFICATION_SENDER
- All parameters starting with "SMTP"
For details about these parameters, see Server parameters.
Set up notification service
To send resource pool and staffing profile notifications, you must enable the RM Notification Service on the PPM Server.
RM Notification service
The following table provides the description and default values for the RM Notification Service.
Service |
Description |
Default Values |
---|---|---|
RM Notification Service |
Determines if notifications are sent and how often they are sent. If Schedule is set to 1 minute, notifications are sent immediately. If Schedule is set to an interval greater than 1 minute, notifications sent to the same recipient during that interval are grouped into a single email. |
Status: Disabled Schedule Type: Simple Schedule: 1 hour |
To modify the RM Notification Service:
-
Click the Administration button in the masthead.
-
From the Administration menu, click Sys Admin > Schedule Services.
-
Click the RM Notification Service.
-
Edit the Status, Schedule Type, and Schedule columns. For details, see Schedule background services.
-
Click Save.
Set up default notifications
Default notifications are the notifications configured in the system. New staffing profiles and resource pools use the default notification configuration.
Prerequisite:
To set up default notifications, you must have one of the following access grants: Edit All Staffing Profiles or Edit All Resource Pools.
To set up the default notifications for all staffing profiles and resource pools in the system:
-
Click the Administration button in the masthead.
-
From the Administration menu, select Resource Management > Configure Notification Defaults.
-
On the Configure Default Resource Request Notifications page, select the events that you want to send notifications.
Modifying default notifications does not impact existing resource pools and staffing profiles.
-
Click Save.
Note: If the resource pool manager and the staffing profile manager are the same person, notifications are not sent. If a resource pool manager is one of a group of staffing profile managers, only the other staffing profile managers receive notifications.
