What's New in PPM 2023

The following new features and enhancements are introduced in PPM 2023.

Portfolio Management enhancement

You can now add the same entity to multiple portfolios that are in different portfolio hierarchies. This feature is enabled when the Add Same Entity to Multiple Portfolio Hierarchies feature toggle is turned on.

Project Management enhancements

The following enhancements are added to the Project Management module.

Project scheduling integration updates

The project scheduling integration includes the following updates:

  • You can now upload and download Oracle Primavera P6 XER and XML files in a project work plan to synchronize the project scheduling information between PPM and Oracle Primavera P6.

    Note: This is a Beta feature.

  • PPM administrators can now use the DISPLAYED_SCHEDULING_INTEGRATION_MODES parameter to restrict the control modes that can be selected for the project scheduling integration.

Task user data support extended

Task user data can now include up to 100 fields, and each field can now contain a maximum of 4,000 characters.

Financial summary link always available in Cost tab

The financial summary link is always displayed in the Cost tab, regardless of whether the financial summary includes cost lines.

Set default percentage complete value for milestones

A new parameter, SET_SUCCESSOR_MILESTONE_PERCENTAGE, is introduced. It enables you to set the default percentage complete value for milestones whose predecessors are completed. PPM automatically updates the milestone status based on the specified value.

PPM-Agile integration enhancements

The following enhancements are added to the PPM-Agile integration.

New sync direction for PPM request type and ALM Octane entity type mapping

A new sync direction, PPM request -> Existing agile entity, is added for PPM-ALM Octane integration. It enables you to map a PPM request to an existing ALM Octane entity.

Support Jira 9.0 for PPM request and Jira issue integration

PPM now adds support for Jira 9.0 for the integration between PPM requests and Jira issues.

Platform enhancements

The following enhancements are added to the Platform module.

Save email notifications as files

You can now save email notifications as files in the folder specified in the EMAILS_DEBUG_DUMP_FOLDER_PATH server parameter. This enables you to test email notifications that PPM sends to users without configuring an SMTP server.

Support custom validations for more system fields

You can now use custom validations for more system fields, including:

  • The Include Proposals, Include Projects, and Include Assets fields in the Add New Proposals/Projects/Assets page.
  • The Region and Role fields in the Search Cost Rules and Add Cost Rules pages.
  • The Business Objectives field in all pages and preconfigured portlets.

Financial Management enhancements

The following enhancements are added to the Financial Management module.

Display financial summary empty values as zero in exported Excel files

A new server parameter, EXPORT_NULL_FINANCIAL_DATA_AS_ZERO_TO_EXCEL, is introduced. It enables you to control whether to replace empty financial summary cells with zero in exported Excel files.

Add notes when editing cost rules

When editing a cost rule, you can now add notes to capture more information.

Resource Management enhancements

The following enhancements are added to the Resource Management module.

Exported staffing profiles include resource email addresses

When a staffing profile is exported to Excel, resource email addresses are displayed as tooltips in the Resource column. This helps you distinguish resources that have the same name.

Proposal staffing profile region defaults to proposal's region

When you create a staffing profile for a proposal, the proposal's region is used as the staffing profile's default region.

Administration enhancement

You can now designate specific users as protected, preventing them from unintended modifications.

Demand Management enhancement

Instead of viewing request details in sections, you can now view them in tabs, which avoids scrolling up and down the long page.

The use of tabs is enabled when the Use Tabs in Request Details Page feature toggle is turned on.

Portlet enhancement

A new option, Show projects in the same order as in "Project Name" field, is added to the Project Timelines portlet preference page. It enables you to show the projects in the same order as defined in the Project Name preference field.

Deprecation

The following features are discontinued:

  • Support for Microsoft Internet Explorer is discontinued.
  • SQL Runner is removed from the PPM Workbench. To run SQL statements, use the Administration Console. For details, see Run SQL queries from standard interface.
