Create and manage iterations

As an administrator or backlog owner, you can create, modify, or remove iterations.

Create iteration from backlog

The iteration created from a backlog can include only those requests that are not already assigned to another iteration.

Requests that you can add have a green circle next to their label. If you select an epic or feature, its child requests are included in the new iteration.

To create an iteration from a backlog:

  1. On the top navigation bar, select a space from the spaces list.

  2. On the Products page, open the product where you want to create an iteration.

  3. On the sidebar, select Issues > Backlogs, and then open a backlog.

  4. Select one or more epics, features, and requests. Multiple objects that you select must be at the same level in the backlog hierarchy. For example, in an epic you can only select requests and features that are at the same level.

  5. Click Create Iteration.

  6. In the Create Iteration dialog box, give the iteration a name and summarize its goals. Then specify the duration of the iteration and a start date.

  7. Click Save.

To create an iteration from another iteration:

  1. On the top navigation bar, select a space from the spaces list.

  2. On the Products page, open the product where you want to create the new iteration.

  3. On the sidebar, select Issues > Iterations.

  4. Select the source iteration for your new iteration.

  5. Select one or more requests.

  6. From the Move To menu, select New Iteration.

  7. In the Create Iteration dialog box, give the iteration a name and summarize its goals. Then specify the duration of the iteration and a start date.

  8. Click Start.
