Manage network objects

In the Administration Console, you can assign a network object to a network node.

Assign a network object

The name network object is taken as being the TCP/IP port number of the Dimensions CM listener on a node. It is used to communicate between nodes in the network. For TCP/IP, this is a socket listed in the services file or its equivalent.

To assign a network object:

  1. In the Administration Console, go to Distributed Development > Network administration > Network nodes.

  2. In the navigation pane, select the node to which you want to assign the network object.

  3. In the Network Object section, click the New object button.

  4. In the Assign Node Object dialog box, enter the following details:

    Field Description
    Network Object Name

Select the network object name from the list, or enter a name to define a new object, up to 20 characters long.

The existing name is the  entry in the listener.dat file located in the server's dfs subdirectory.

Description (Optional) Add a description of the network object. Use up to 240 characters.
Process (Optional) Add the network object process name. Use up to 10 characters.
Protocol Select the appropriate network protocol, either SDP for the standard network protocol or SSLSDP if a Secure Sockets Layers network protocol is being used.
  5. Click OK to assign the network object to the node.
