Preservation Policies main window

This topic describes the areas and options of the Preservation Policies section in the Administration Console.

About the Preservation Policies main window

The Preservation Policies main window contains the following areas:

Menu area Displays the toolbar for creating, copying, or deleting preservation policies.
Navigation area Displays a list of all preservation policies for the base database.
Content area Displays a list of valid preservation policies in the base database, or the details of a selected policy.

To open Preservation Policies, go to Administration Console > Configuration Object Management > Preservation policies.

Preservation Policies menu area toolbar

Use the Preservation Policies toolbar to perform the following operations:

  • Define a new preservation policy.

  • Create a new preservation policy by copying an existing policy.

  • Delete the selected preservation policy.

Preservation Policies navigation area

The Preservation Policies navigation pane lists all the preservation policies in the base database.

Select the top-level icon to view a list of all the preservation policies in the product.

Select a specific preservation policy to view and edit its details in the content pane.

Preservation Policies content area

The Preservation Policies content pane displays information about the object selected in the navigation pane.

When you select the top-level product icon in the navigation pane, you can perform the following operations in the content pane:

  • Select a preservation policy to edit, copy, or delete it.

  • Display a summary of preservation policies as a separate HTML page to print or save.

  • Display the list of preservation policies as comma-separated values to save as a text file.

  • Sort the list of preservation policies by column headings. Click Select All  to select all the preservation policies on the page.

When you select a preservation policy in the navigation pane, you can view and edit its details in the content pane:

Section Description
General Contains general details about the preservation policy, including its name and description, the default rule, the user who last updated it, and the updated date.
Preservation Rules

Contains a list of preservation rules associated with the policy.

You can add, edit, or delete preservation rules.

Used By

Contains a list of projects that use the preservation policy.

You can add or delete stages for a project.
