Use reports and lists

In the Reports and Lists window, you can work with reports and lists available in Dimensions CM.

Reports and Lists window

To open reports and lists in the desktop client, navigate to View > Reports and Lists.

The following table describes the nodes in the Reports and Lists window.

Node Description
Favorite Reports

Contains an icon for each of your own or publicly available Dimensions CM reports that you stored as your favorites, grouped by Dimensions CM object class tree node (for example, baselines, design parts, and items, and requests).

These are reports that have been created using either the web client or desktop client, either from scratch or by adopting or modifying public reports. They are stored on the server and are available from either client. 

For details, see Add reports to favorites.

Note: For an object class tree node to be displayed in Favorite Reports, at least one report of that object class must exist.

My Reports

Contains an icon for each of your own stored Dimensions CM reports, grouped by Dimensions CM object class tree node (for example, baselines, design parts, and items, and requests).

These are reports that you have created using the web client or desktop client, either from scratch or by adopting or modifying public reports. They are stored on the server and are available from either client.

Note: For an object class tree node to be displayed in My Reports, at least one report of that object class must exist.

Public Reports

Contains an icon for each stored report that a Dimensions CM user has made available to other users, plus standard reports available to all users. These are grouped by Dimensions CM object class tree node.

Note: For an object class tree node to be displayed in Public Reports, at least one report of that object class must exist.

My Filters

Contains an icon for each object filter you have created using the Find dialog box. The filters are stored in the registry on your local machine.

Favorite Requests Contains an icon for each request list you have created using the Edit Request List function. For details, see Create and manage request lists.

Note: Reports and filters are not supported for external requests.

Work with reports and lists

You can manage reports and lists from the View > Reports and Lists window in the desktop client.

To use reports and lists:

  1. In the desktop client's menu bar, select View > Reports and Lists.

  2. Open reports, lists, and filters:

    Favorite reports Expand the Favorite Reports node. Then expand the appropriate Dimensions CM object class node, for example, Items.
    Private reports Expand the My Reports node. Then expand the appropriate Dimensions CM object class node.
    Public reports Expand the Public Reports node. Then expand the appropriate Dimensions CM object class node.
    Request lists Expand the Favorite Requests node.
    Object filters Expand the My Filters node. Then expand the appropriate Dimensions CM object class node.
  3. To work with reports:

    Run reports Right-click a report, and select Run.
    Edit reports Right-click a report, and select Edit. Then complete the Report Builder dialog box.
    Delete reports Right-click a report, and select Delete.
    Add reports to favorites Right-click a report, and select Add to Favorites.
    Remove reports from favorites Right-click a report, and select Remove from Favorites.

    To work with request lists:

    View request lists Click the icon for the request list.
    Delete request lists Right-click a request list, and select Delete.

    To work with object filters:

    Display the result of an object filter Right-click an object filter, and select Run.
    Edit an object filter Right-click an object filter, and select Edit. Then complete the Find dialog box.
