User experience

This release includes the following enhancements to the user experience:

Updated UI

The user interface has been partially updated to reflect that Micro Focus is now OpenText.

Enhanced license report

Added a new report that contains a detailed calculation of VUH license consumption per test run, broken down by scripts. This report is available from the OpenText Core Performance Engineering working area and Tenant management. To enable this feature, submit a service request.

Enhanced integration with Digital Lab (UFT Mobile)

Added support for running TruClient - Native Mobile scripts on cloud load generators. This enables integrating UFT Digital Lab into performance tests in the cloud, without any dependency on on-premises components.

You can now install and configure a Docker container for a OpenText Core Performance Engineering Git agent.

WebPageTest(Deprecation notice)

Support for the WebPageTest report is planned for removal in the next version of OpenText Core Performance Engineering.

Modernization

This release includes the following modernization updates:

Modernized user interface

Many areas of the user interface were redesigned with a modern look and feel. This includes some of the test definition pages, the menu, and the banner. The existing functionality has been preserved and some menu pages have been renamed.

Security and infrastructure

This release includes the following security and infrastructure updates:

OpenSSL v3 update

As of OpenText Core Performance Engineering 2023.03, the cloud and on-premises load generators (v2023.03) provided with LoadRunner Cloud were updated to support OpenSSL version 3.0. In this new release, a new option is introduced to modify OpenSSL settings using a script configuration.

VuGen, protocols, and LoadRunner Developer

Virtual User Generator (VuGen) includes the following enhancements. For details, see the VuGenWhat's new.

LoadRunner version 2023 R1

OpenText Core Performance Engineering supports VuGen and OneLG version 2023 R1.

Virtual Table Server (VTS) VTS now supports LDAPS connection to the domain controller for NTLM authentication.

The VuGen and third-party protocols include the following enhancements. For details, see the VuGenWhat's new.

Area Enhancement
TruClient

TruClient protocols include the following updates:

  • Upgraded browser version support:

    • Chromium: Version 113

    • TruClient Browser: Equivalent to Firefox version 110

  • TruClient scripts created with Internet Explorer are no longer supported. You can no longer run a test that includes TruClient scripts created with Internet Explorer. For details, see Support Matrix.

Note: From 2023 R1, TruClient documentation is available in the VuGen Help Center, and not in the TruClient Help Center.

Web protocols Web protocols now support server-side Brotli compression during recording and replay. Brotli compression is accepted automatically when recording. For replay, acceptance is configured in the runtime settings.
Web - HTTP/HTML

Web - HTTP/HTML protocols include the following updates:

  • An enhanced Runtime Settings user interface is now available for the Web HTTP/HTML protocol. This provides improved capabilities and more streamlined functionality.

  • Recording is now supported for Google Web Toolkit (GWT) 2.9 and 2.10.

SAP GUI

The SAP GUI protocol includes the following enhancements:

  • You can now configure the SAP client to remain open after encountering an error during script execution in VuGen.

  • If the SAP GUI client crashes during script replay, you can configure it to relaunch automatically, to enable the continued replay of any remaining iterations in the script.

DevWeb

Added a new capability to the Runtime Settings user interface for DevWeb scripts. You can now define periodic pacing, so that new iterations start at a fixed or a random time interval.

Gatling and JMeter

The following updates are included for Gatling and JMeter scripts:

  • OpenText Core Performance Engineering now supports Gatling version 3.9.2.

  • Installation of Gatling and JMeter is now optional for on-premises load generators installed on Windows, and for Dockerized load generators on Linux. You can choose whether to install Gatling and/or JMeter during a wizard installation, silent installation, or Dockerized load generator setup (Linux only). For details, see OPLG requirements.

LoadRunner Developer and DevWeb include the following enhancements. For details, see the LoadRunner DeveloperWhat's new.

Area Enhancement
HTML parser

This release includes improved functionality for parsing HTML responses, reducing the noise and complexity in your scripts:

  • HTML resources can be excluded from the web request step during script generation.

  • For replay, you can enable downloading of the resources discovered at runtime from the HTML body, without including the resources in the script.

VS Code IDE

This release includes enhanced DevWeb script creation with Visual Studio Code:

  • You can now download a VS Code extension for DevWeb scripts, and install it directly from VS Code. You can then create a DevWeb script in VS Code, with all editing functionality available.

  • Correlate selection functionality is now available for your scripts when using the VS Code extension. This enables you to manually select the text you want to correlate, and then use the Correlate Selection option to add extractors.

Note: The new VS Code extension features are provided as tech preview.

Hex option for randomString utils

The randomString utils now includes a hex option, so that the generated string only uses hexadecimal characters.
