As part of ongoing modernization, the following areas of the LoadRunner Enterprise Administration user interface are updated using the latest technologies:

• Alerts. For details, see Activate alerts.

• Pools. For details, see Manage host pools.

• Orchestration. For details, see Set up Dockerized hosts.

The trend report PDF has been simplified and given a more modern look and feel. You can use the PDF to more easily view graphs, bar charts, tables, and user preferences.

An updated Runtime Settings user interface is now in use in LoadRunner products for many of the protocols. The new UI provides a modernized look and feel, and more streamlined functionality.

Improved performance for displaying large script files in the script viewer.

Simplified the process of switching between different workload types, and adding, removing, and disabling groups.

The following analysis server enhancements are included:

• LoadRunner Enterprise now supports InfluxDB version 2.x. InfluxDB 2.x is also provided as part of the LoadRunner Enterprise Host installation. For details, see Configure external InfluxDB analysis servers.

• LoadRunner Enterprise now supports HTTPS with internal InfluxDB. For details, see Enable HTTPS with internal InfluxDB.

The following security enhancements are included for file uploads:

• Restricted the file types you can upload to LoadRunner Enterprise from the user interface and REST API.

• Added a warning to check for vulnerabilities and scan for viruses when uploading files. For details, see File uploads security disclaimer.

SSO is now supported only if the LoadRunner Enterprise server is using a secure HTTP connection (SSL configured environment).

To use Network Virtualization 2022 R2, you must install Zulu OpenJDK 11 on Linux machines that are running Network Virtualization, and update the Java default path to Zulu 11.

The Virtual User Generator (VuGen) enables you to record and develop scripts that emulate the behavior of real users on your system. These scripts are used for performance and load testing with Micro Focus products.

VuGen 2022 R2 includes the following updates:

• .NET Plus protocol. This release includes the .NET+ protocol, supporting .NET 6. You can use the new protocol to manually code Vuser scripts for Microsoft .NET client applications created in .NET 6.

• DevWeb protocol. The following enhancements and fixes are included for DevWeb scripts:

  • The Correlate selection option now adds context-based extractors. VuGen assesses the origin file type for the selected text, and inserts the appropriate extractors in the script. For example, XML or JSON extractors.

  • Automatic block size allocation for Vusers is now supported for DevWeb scripts running on LoadRunner Enterprise. Auto block size is available when using the unique row selection method for DevWeb parameters.

  • DevWeb scripts now support access to Microsoft Azure Key Vault. To retrieve secrets data from the Key Vault during replay, you add the relevant API functions into your script.

• TruClient protocol. TruClient includes the following enhancements:

  • Upgraded Chromium browser support to version 103.

  • Upgraded TruClient Browser support - equivalent to Firefox version 101.

  • Selection of multiple files for upload is now supported in all browsers, for record and replay.

• Kafka protocol. Kafka protocol now has enhanced options for managing configuration files.

• Citrix protocol. Citrix protocol now includes functions that retrieve information about a window based on the unique window ID.

• PCoIP protocol. The Teradici PCoIP protocol is now supported with VMware Horizon 8.

• SAP GUI protocol. You can now enable VuGen to continue replay of SAP GUI protocol scripts even if a logon or connection fails during replay.

LoadRunner Developer is Micro Focus' cutting-edge tool for web protocol performance and load testing. Powered by the DevWeb engine, LoadRunner Developer enables you to create and execute DevWeb protocol scripts which can be run within LoadRunner Enterprise. LoadRunner Developer 2022 R2 contains the following enhancements and fixes:

• Trend report for ScaLRD with LRE. When running performance tests on LRE using ScaLRD, you can now add the test run data to a new or existing trend report in LoadRunner Enterprise (this feature is currently provided as tech preview).

• Auto block size support. Automatic block size allocation for Vusers is now supported for DevWeb scripts running on LoadRunner Enterprise. Auto block size is available when using the unique row selection method for DevWeb parameters.

• Azure Key Vault support. DevWeb scripts now support access to Microsoft Azure Key Vault. To retrieve secrets data from the Key Vault during replay, you add the relevant API functions into your script.

• Run name for InfluxDB reporting. When streaming data to InfluxDB, you can now define a custom name for easier identification of the data.

The following enhancements are included for the online screen:

• The test tabs menu was updated, and you can now close all open tabs with one click. For details, see Test tabs menu.

LoadRunner Enterprise REST APIs now include the following updates:

• Support for retrieving a list of all existing cloud host templates in the project. For details, see Get all cloud host templates in the LoadRunner Enterprise REST API Reference.

• Support for retrieving a cloud host template by the specified ID. For details, see Get cloud host templates by ID in the LoadRunner Enterprise REST API Reference.

Updates to scripts include:

• You can now create DevWeb, Web - HTTP/HTML, C Vuser, and Java Vuser protocol scripts directly in the LoadRunner Enterprise Web client without having to use an external tool or installation. For details, see Create a script in LoadRunner Enterprise.

• Added support for running Kafka scripts in your performance tests and viewing the results in LoadRunner Enterprise graphs and Analysis. This enables you to monitor the health of your Kafka deployment by collecting Kafka-specific metrics, including producer and consumer metrics. For details, see Kafka tests.

For tests created in LoadRunner Enterprise 2022, runtime collation is now the default option for collating run results. Collating during runtime reduces the time required to gather all data at the end of the test . For details, see Collate results.

Updates to Azure cloud hosts include:

• You can configure cloud environment settings so that provisioned load generators are automatically assigned to an Azure Load Balancer backend pool. For details, see Configure cloud environment settings.

• You can add custom virtual machine images to the Azure Compute Gallery, making it easier to manage, share, and globally distribute them in Azure. For details, see Create custom image for cloud hosts.

Many areas of the online screen are updated using the latest technologies.

Other changes to the interface include:

• Redesigned the Monitors view from which you can more easily add new monitors to the test during a run. For details, see Monitors view.

• Modernized the Edit Timeslot Duration and View Script dialog boxes.

The Timeslots module in the Performance Test Designer is simplified and has a fresh new look and feel. For details, see Create a timeslot and View or edit a reserved timeslot.

When test hosts become non-operational, an alert notification containing the host name and tenant ID is now sent to specified users if a host becomes non-operational during a Check Host maintenance task. This is in addition to notifications being sent when host status is manually changed to Non-Operational in LoadRunner Enterprise. For details, see Alert rules.

You can configure timeout limits for user sessions in the appsettings.defaults.json configuration file. For details, see Configure session timeouts and concurrent logins.

The following enhancements are available in LoadRunner Enterprise Administration and Site Management:

• You can perform various actions on an entity using the new menu in the entity's details page. For details, see Entity details menu.

• You can use the breadcrumb and dropdown menu added to an entity's details page to search for other entities in the module, and to switch between different entities in the group to view their details. For details, see Breadcrumbs.

You can now delete LoadRunner Enterprise server licenses from the Licenses page in LoadRunner Enterprise Administration. For details, see Delete licenses.

REST APIs

You can limit how far in advance users can reserve timeslots from the LoadRunner Enterprise REST API. For details, see Limit timeslot reservations.

Use the new Infrastructure Testing monitor to get basic monitor data for the Controller and all load generator machines involved in a performance test. For details, see Infrastructure Testing monitor graph.

After installing and configuring LoadRunner Enterprise, all of the LoadRunner Enterprise applications and components can run with User Account Control (UAC) and Data Execution Prevention (DEP) enabled.

Several updates were made to the start run process to improve stability and performance.

• When the script is downloaded to the Controller and load generators, only runtime files are transferred.

• You can have script files transferred to load generators during the test initialization stage instead of being downloaded by the Scheduler. For details, see Configure general test options.

LoadRunner Enterprise now includes a Service Virtualization license. The Virtual Service - All Protocols Unlimited license enables performance engineers to use Virtual Services and simulations during performance testing. Service Virtualization helps to overcome application dependencies, test component performance early and in isolation, improve quality by simulating extreme performance characteristics, and reduce the cost of test environments.

Included usage is one SV Server instance for each LoadRunner Enterprise license, and only in the context of performance testing.
