Upload Rules main window
This topic describes the areas and options of the Upload Rules section in the Administration Console.
About the Upload Rules main window
The Upload Rules main window contains the following areas:
Menu area | Displays the toolbar for adding or removing upload rules. |
Navigation area | Displays a list of IDEs and IDE projects, as well as the Dimensions CM default project. |
Content area | Displays upload rule details for the currently selected IDE, IDE project, Dimensions CM default project, or product. |
To open Upload Rules, go to Administration Console > Configuration Object Management > Upload rules.

Upload Rules menu area toolbar
Use the Upload Rules toolbar to perform the following operations:

Create a new set of upload rules for a product in an IDE, based on the selected upload rules.

Delete the selected product-specific upload rules for an IDE.
Upload Rules navigation area
The Upload Rules navigation pane displays the following objects:
Object | Description |

Base Database | The current base database for which these upload rules apply. |
Dimensions Clients |
Represents the default upload rules used by Dimensions CM when files are added. The Dimensions Clients node includes:

Lists the names of the supported IDEs, for example, Dimensions Eclipse Client, Dimensions Visual Studio Client. Each IDE includes:

Upload Rules content area
When you select the Dimensions default project, a product, an IDE default project, or an IDE specific project, the content pane displays the following sections:
Object | Description |
---|---|
General |
Displays product and project information about the current selection. You can copy inclusions/exclusions from another upload project to the selected project. |
Include |
Displays a list of file inclusions, which determine the files that can be added, checked in, or uploaded to Dimensions CM. You can add, edit, and delete file inclusions. Drag and drop the rules in the list to reorder them. |
Exclude |
Displays a list of file exclusions, which determine the files that are not normally added, checked in, or uploaded to Dimensions CM. You can add, edit, and delete file exclusions. Drag and drop the rules in the list to reorder them. |
