User Interface Profiles section

This topic describes the areas and options of the User Interface Profiles section in the Administration Console.

About the User Interface Profiles section

The User Interface Profiles section contains the following subsections:

Section Description
Profile Definitions section

In the Profile Definitions section, create and manage user interface profiles.

To open Profile Definitions, go to Administration Console > Users, Groups, Roles and Privileges > User interface profiles > Profile definitions.

Profile Assignments section

In the Profile Assignments section, assign user interface profiles to users or groups.

To open Profile Assignments, go to Administration Console > Users, Groups, Roles and Privileges > User interface profiles > Profile assignments.

Profile Definitions section

In the Profile Definitions section, create and manage user interface profiles to control what features are visible to users in the Dimensions CM clients.

Profile Definitions toolbar

The Profile Definitions toolbar includes the following options:

Button Description
Create a new user interface profile.
Create a UI profile by copying the details of the existing user interface profile.
Delete the selected UI profile.

Profile Definitions navigation area

The Profile Definitions navigation pane lists the UI profiles in the base database.

In the navigation pane, click the top-level Profile Names icon to view a summary of all profiles in the content pane. You can then select one or more profiles in the content pane.

Select a profile to view its details in the content pane.

Profile Definitions content area

When you select the top-level Profile Names icon in the navigation pane, the content pane displays a summary of all user interface profiles in the base database. You can perform the following operations:

  • Select a profile and modify its details.
  • Display a summary of profiles to print or save.

  • Display the list of profiles as comma-separated values to save as a text file.

  • Sort the list of profiles by name or description.

When you select a profile in the navigation pane, the content pane displays tabs with the profile's description and operation settings. You can modify the profile's details.

Profile Assignments section

In the Profile Assignments section, view profile assignments and assign user interface profiles to users or groups.

Profile Assignments toolbar

The Profile Assignments toolbar includes the following options:

Button Description
Switch to view by users and groups.
Switch to view by profiles.
Assign a profile to a user or group.

Profile Assignments navigation area

The Profile Assignments navigation pane lists the UI profiles assigned to users and groups in the base database.

Depending on the view selected on the toolbar, you can perform the following actions in the navigation pane:

Users

In the Users view, you can:

  • Select to view profile assignments for a specific category: All Active Users, All Groups, Auto Registered (proxy), or Dormant Users (inactive).

  • Select a user or group to view and manage UI profiles assigned to that user or group.

Profiles

In the Profiles view, you can:

  • Click the top-level Profile Names icon to view and manage all profile assignments, listed by profile name.

  • Select a profile to view and manage its assignments.

Profile Assignments content area

The Profile Assignments content pane displays information about the object selected in the navigation pane:

Top-level Users or Groups icon

The content pane displays a list of profile assignments for all the users or groups.

You can assign a UI profile to all the users or groups.

A user or group

The content pane displays a list of profile assignments for the selected user or group.

You can assign a UI profile to the selected user or group.

Top-level Profile Names icon

The content pane displays a summary of all user interface profiles in the base database.

You can assign all the profiles to a user or group.

Use the buttons in the upper-right corner of the content pane to perform the following actions:

  • Display an HTML page with a summary of profiles to print or save.

  • Display the list of profiles as comma-separated values to save as a text file.
