Action a request

Action a Dimensions CM request to move the request to another lifecycle state.

Note: To action external requests, use the relevant request provider, for example, OpenText ALM Octane or Atlassian Jira.

Guidelines and behaviors

  • When you action a request from your inbox, the request is removed from your list and moved to the inbox of users who have roles for the next lifecycle state.

  • If you are actioning a request to a lifecycle state associated with a stage in the Global Stage Lifecycle, the request is also promoted to that stage. If there are any default areas associated with the project/stream, the related item files are automatically deployed to those areas.

  • When you action a request to or from a lifecycle state that is sensitive, which requires an electronic signature, you are required to enter your Dimensions CM password.

  • If you are actioning requests related to Dimensions RM requirements, make sure you review the considerations described in Manage CM requests and RM requirements.

  • If the role on the request's next transition has an Assignment Type of Delegation Candidate, the request cannot be actioned unless a user is delegated.

  • To action a request to a valid next state, you need the privilege Action Request to Next State (REQUEST_ACTION_NEXTSTATE).

To action a request to a lifecycle state without a valid transition, you need the privilege Action Request to Any State (REQUEST_ACTION_ANYSTATE).
