Manage requests in web client

You can work with requests from multiple request providers in the Dimensions CM web client.

View requests from multiple providers

You can view requests from multiple request providers, including Dimensions CM, in the web client's Requests view.

To view requests:

  1. In the web client, open the Requests view.

  2. Choose the option for displaying requests:

    Action Description
    View all requests for your current user. In the navigation pane, select Inbox.
    Requests are displayed in the content pane under their relevant provider.
    View your favorite requests. In the navigation pane, select Favorites.
    View a request list.

    In the navigation pane, expand the Favorites node and select a list.

    To create request lists, see Create and manage request lists.

    View requests from a specific request provider.

    In the navigation pane, expand the Catalog node and select a provider.

    To view a specific type of request, expand the provider's node and select a request type, for example, User Stories.

    External request types are defined in your provider instance.

    SBM requests: To view requests from a specific SBM report, first specify which reports will be available. See Select SBM reports.

    Jira: To view Jira issues, you may need to log in to your Jira instance. Click Log in to Jira on the toolbar and specify your Jira credentials. For details, see Authenticate to Jira.

  3. To narrow down the list of displayed requests, create a filter. For details, see Create request filters.

  4. To arrange requests from multiple providers in the content pane, use these options:

    Action Description
    Change the order of request providers. Use the Up and Down arrows in the provider header to move a provider up or down the list.
    Hide a provider and its requests. Click Hide in the provider header.
    Show hidden providers.

    Click Show All Providers at the top right of the content pane. Hidden providers have dimmed headers.

    To unhide a request provider, click Unhide in the provider header.

Manage requests in the content pane

In the web client's content pane, you can work with both external and native requests.

To manage requests from multiple request providers:

  1. To view a request's details, select the request in the content pane and click Open on the toolbar. Or click the request name.

    The following information is displayed for external requests in the Open Request dialog box:

    General

    Displays a read-only version of the request's general details, such as the title, status, author, date, and type.

    Note: You cannot edit external requests in Dimensions CM. To modify a request, open it in the relevant request provider instance. For details about editing Dimensions CM requests, see Edit requests.

    Relationships

    Displays objects related to the request.

    Select an object class to view the list of related objects. You can open, relate, and perform other operations on these objects.

    Note: You cannot relate external requests to design parts, requests, and requirements.

    Refactoring history Displays the history of project structure changes related to the request as In Response To.
  2. To add requests to favorites, select one or more requests in the content pane, and click Add to Favorites on the toolbar.

    Favorite requests are displayed in the Favorites node in the navigation pane.

  3. To perform operations on requests, such as update, merge, or relate, select one or more requests in the content pane and use the relevant options on the toolbar.

    Note: External requests cannot be related to requests, design parts, and requirements.

  4. To open an external request in its provider instance, select the request in the content pane, and click Open in External Tool on the toolbar.
  5. If available, you can open a request's review in OpenText PulseUno. Select the request in the content pane, and click Open in PulseUno on the toolbar.

Tip: You can customize the columns view in the content pane. Click the User ID link at the top right to open user preferences. From the Select an Area to Customize list, select Columns for the Requests table, and add or remove columns, as needed. You can sort the list of requests based on the columns.

Select requests from different providers

When creating a baseline, updating or merging from a request, or performing other operations with requests, use the Selection wizard to find and select requests from multiple request providers.

To select from external and native requests:

  1. When performing an update, merge, or other operation involving requests, browse for requests to open the Selection wizard.

  2. In the Selection wizard, use the following toolbar options to narrow down the list of displayed requests.

    Jira: To view Jira issues, you may need to log in to your Jira instance. Click the Log in to Jira link under the Jira provider header, and specify your Jira credentials. For details, see Authenticate to Jira.

    Action Description
    Search for requests.

    In the search field, enter a text string to match a request's title, ID, or other text field.

    The search looks through requests in the relevant provider instance, enabling the provider's native full-text search.

    View all requests for your current user. Click Inbox .
    Requests are displayed under their relevant provider.
    View your favorite requests. Click Favorites .
    Filter requests by provider.

    Click All requests and select a provider from the list.

    SBM requests: To view requests from a specific SBM report, first specify which reports will be available. For details, see Select SBM reports.

    Filter requests by type.

    By default, all request types for a given provider are displayed.

    To display particular request types:

    1. Select Filter by request type > Types . The Request Type Filter dialog box opens.

    2. To add to the list of displayed types, move them from the Used types list to Available types.

      SHIFT+click to select a range of types. CTRL+click to select multiple non-consecutive types.

    3. Click OK.

    External request types are defined in your provider instance.

  3. To rearrange or hide request providers, use these options:

    Action Description
    Change the order of request providers. Click the Up or Down arrows in the provider header.
    Hide a provider and its requests. Click Hide provider in the provider header.
    Show hidden providers.

    Select Filter by request type > Show all providers. Hidden providers have dimmed headers.

    To unhide a request provider, click Unhide in the provider header.

    Tip: To change the columns displayed in the Selection wizard, click Customize columns and select or clear columns as needed. You can sort the list of requests based on the columns.

  4. Dimensions CM requests: To select requests based on advanced search criteria, click Advanced search in the Dimensions CM provider header. For details, see Selection wizard for Dimensions CM requests.

  5. Additionally, you can perform the following tasks:

    Action Description
    Add a request to favorites. Select the star next to the request.
    Open a request in its provider instance. Click the request ID.
    Open a request provider instance. Click Open providers home page and select a provider from the list.
    Open the review associated with a request in PulseUno.

    Select a request and click Open in PulseUno .

  6. Select one or more requests and click Select.
